Our hundred-year-old national past was repeated in our days, and it seems that this return of the past should have reduced, and in many cases it really did reduce the intense, interested interest of the literary, as well as broad social circles, in that past itself and its literature, even documentary. the new and renewed past did not have to present itself mediated to the survivors of the past today, and many names and faces that were meant to be the protagonists of the day's history passed into the margins of today's history. It seems that the seat of Khachik Dashtens was also on the margin, but it didn't happen like that. His "Khodedan", his "Call of the Ranch Dancers", which were more authentic and more than authentic artistic panoramas of our national life of 1890-1920, seem to have done their work as an old soldier and would no longer be withdrawn from the battlefield. But here - they did not withdraw, but here - they did not lose anything of their brilliance.
It means that Dashtens has created his artistic reality from our national reality of the time, the meeting with which gives only joy and delight, which you wouldn't say about our modern day meeting with a century-old reality.
Every meeting with that man on every occasion - be it his wonderful Shakespearean revivals, his poetry or the aforementioned novels - filled you with only joy and pride for your own Armenian language, your own history, your own upright attitude towards your reality and your national life. And it is natural that the confused person of today wants to have by his side the most honest, the most elegant, the most upright people of the past, such as Khachik Dashtens.
