Literary Career

After studying at the Pedagogical University of Kirovakan and working in Yerevan as a proofreader, he gained literary fame in 1961 with his essay 'Ahnidzor'. His first collection of stories, 'Ogostos' (August), was published in 1967. Matevosyan served as the head of the Writers' Union of Armenia from 1995 to 2000.

Biography

Hrant Ignati Matevosyan (February 12, 1935 – December 19, 2002) was a prominent Armenian writer and screenwriter. Widely regarded as the most accomplished contemporary novelist in Armenia at the time of his death, he was born in the village of Ahnidzor, Lori Province.
