Cultural and Educational Hikes to Ahnidzor

“…Let me begin where I should have begun”

The path to understanding a writer begins where his world began.

The Hrant Matevossian Cultural Centre and Museum organises regular cultural and educational trips from Yerevan to Ahnidzor, the writer’s native village. The journeys introduce participants to the setting, landscape, and cultural environment that shaped Hrant Matevossian’s worldview and gave birth to his literary universe.

The Idea Behind the Hike

Ahnidzor is the source of Hrant Matevossian’s literary world. It is one of the rare places in Lori where the landscape, memory, and human relationships that inhabit his writing remain vividly present. The journey offers a chance to walk these paths, see this countryside, and experience the environment that shaped the writer’s worldview.

Organised by the Matevossian Centre, the “…Let me begin where I should have begun” hike and pilgrimage aims to create a lasting cultural bridge between Yerevan and Ahnidzor, turning the writer’s homeland into a living place for encounters, discovery, and cultural dialogue.
