Pedro Mir and Hrant Matevossian are two writers who reveal an entire world through the life of an individual.
Do the state and the age define their literature, or do they remain outside the paths travelled by their characters? How does great literature trace a course towards the eternal? These questions shaped the event “A Dialogue Beyond Time: Pedro Mir and Hrant Matevossian”.
The Hrant Matevossian Centre, represented by its Director Davit Matevossian, hosted the event organised by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic and diplomat Sandra Santana. Speakers Hovhannes Bodukyan and Basilio Belliard introduced the two writers’ creative worlds and their place in both their national literatures and world culture.
“Without culture, and literature in particular, peoples, races and nations lose the certificate of their identity, their passport, and become merely a mass. Culture and heritage require daily care and daily re-creation. That is why we are here today,” said Davit Matevossian, Director of the Hrant Matevossian Foundation.
