An Attempt at a Self-Portrait

AN ATTEMPT AT A SELF-PORTRAIT. Matevossian 90.

The anniversary year began at the Hrant Matevossian Centre with the exhibition “An Attempt at a Self-Portrait”. It is a kind of mandala that catches the eternal within life’s transience: fragments of the writer’s life—village, kin, family, friends, writing and literature.

A few fragile objects, wooden frames, linen cords, manuscript pages and photographs form a circle that bridges times, generations and great figures. If we listen to the many-voiced dialogue between Tumanyan and Matevossian, the sense of responsibility carried by these two giants can help us become masters of the present—for tomorrow and for the generations to come.

Exhibition by Ani Yeghiazaryan. Our thanks to Sirakan Abroyan and ArmenPress for the photographs, and special thanks to Garni Invest and Bagrat Asatryan for their modest and honourable support.
