Yerevan Is a Haven

Yerevan is the most important milestone in the centuries-old process of the Armenian people, the beginning of the future process, the hope and light of the Armenian people. If you knew what the city was like in the 20s. all the Armenians from Aleppo, Istanbul, Tiflis, Moscow came here, this scaly clay village town, full of hashish.
But they, Arus Voskanyan, that gorgeous woman, Hrach Nersisyan, Vahram Papazyan, Martiros Saryan, Alexander Tamanyan, Toros Toramanyan, the cream of this people, were going to build their capital, from the heart of Tamanyan, from the love of Toramanyan, who for decades wiped the dust from the piles in the ruins of the old Armenian temple, pounded the clay in his hand to unite Yerevan. And we had a big city, a capital.
Be able not to see the difficulties of time. the empty suburbs, the non-smoking factories, as a son can deny the defect of his parent, we can deny that defect and again caress our beautiful, powerful city, to see the spirit of the city revived, lively, cheerful again, people full of love for each other. Let's encourage and have that city, because it was from the beginning. God forbid that we open black mouths against our city, that we speak evil about the capital, we have no one else. the world is full of beautiful cities, but not ours. say what you want, this is ours.
If we are worthy people, we must have a city worthy of us, if we are a cultured people, if we are a flexible, resilient, resourceful tribe, we must have our own city. Paris is beautiful, there are many beautiful, rich cities with success upon success, starting from the slab, the walls, with the history of imperial success. We are not that rich, our city is everywhere. It is not a city of success, and time must accumulate other layers of wealth during the reign of our sons and grandsons. God grant that in 100 years, those who come to Yerevan will see that here there are layers upon layers of wealth and the work of centuries and generations.
